THE 2PM CLUB Daytime Disco returns to Luton’s Hat Factory Arts Centre on Saturday 23rd May. Doors at 2pm. Last song at 6pm. Home by 7, and Sunday still your own.
Billed as your best night out, in the afternoon, this is four hours of singing your heart out to 80s, 90s and 00s anthems. Bon Jovi, Beyonce, Spice Girls, Whitney, The Killers, Take That, Kylie, Wham!. The big choruses everyone in the room knows the words to, played loud, on a packed dancefloor, with the rest of the evening still ahead of you.
The afternoon format is the whole point. It fits around childcare, work, plans with friends, and the rest of the weekend. It gives people who’d quietly stopped going out a way back in. Nobody wants to stop having fun. This is a way of doing it on your own terms.
The brand has been packing rooms out across the region for the last two years, with regular sell-outs in Northampton, Leicester, Coventry, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Luton. It is run by Boombastic Events, an independent regional events company founded by John Donaghue in 2014 and now in its second decade of staging sold-out daytime and evening events across the Midlands.
The Hat Factory date is open to the over 25s. Expect a properly packed, properly up-for-it room: people who came to sing, dance and actually use the dancefloor, not stand at the side. Big production, real lighting, the songs you came for.
